Report on the Three-day Workshop by Mr. Matthew Bregman on “Fundraising for Arts and Cultural Organizations” (1.2.2013)

The Three-day Workshop on “Fundraising for Arts and Cultural Organizations” was held from December 7 to 10, 2012. The workshop attracted over 20 arts management professionals from Hong Kong, Macau and Beijing. Participants come from a diverse background, including the HKADC, LCSD, Macau Cultural Bureau, the British Council, the Hong Kong Arts Festival Society, some of the Big 9 companies and international artists’ agency.

Lecturer Mr. Matthew Bregman, the Vice President for Development at the Brokklyn Academy of Music came all the way from New York. He took students through the many facets of fundraising and engaged them in real-life exercises. Students found the interactive nature of the Workshop rewarding and treasured the insights they learned from Mr Bregman. The remarks from one of the participants that “the best of the Mr Bregman’s lecture is his sharing of first-hand experiences seems to be representative. Many also believe that the concepts they learned from the Workshop can be applied in their day-to-day operation.
