Welcome

Introduction

We are pleased to announce that the Asia Leadership Roundtable 2018 co-organized by the Asia Pacific Centre for Leadership and Change (APCLC) of The Education University of Hong Kong, the Education Bureau of Jianggan District, Hangzhou, and the Institute of Schooling Reform and Development of The East China Normal University will be held on March 18-20, 2018.

Theme and Purpose

This year's Roundtable theme is "The West Wind vs. the East Wind: Understanding Leadership for Teacher Learning". There are two sub-themes:

School leadership and teacher learning across cultures
Research methods for studying school leadership across cultures

The objectives include:

To encourage regional and international education scholars and practitioners to come together to reflect upon understanding leadership as it is conceptualized and practiced in different cultures.
To consider the principal’s role in teacher learning. This is important given what we know about the impact of teacher learning on student outcomes both in Asia and the West.
To continue discussion of issues around the complex job of conducting research across different cultures.

Format

The meeting format will emphasize interaction. Participation is by-invitation only, and limited to 60+ scholars, scholar-practitioners, training managers, policymakers, and principals from 17 countries / territories in the region and beyond.
