A few hints for developing a Personal Leadership Charter
some guiding ideas for working through your Charter.
Reflecting
> Take time to reflect on your capabilities and practices. This will
increase your self-awareness and help you organise and synthesise
your thoughts.
Gaining self-awareness
> A Charter is built on data around different starting points. What are
these?
>> What are the different components of your work and life?
> What aspects of your work give you satisfaction and which do not?
(satisfaction is mostly due to working within your capabilities)
>> What aspects of your previous work gave satisfaction that you don’t
have now?
>> What aspects of your roles outside work give you satisfaction?
>>>> What are you passionate about that is not being exploited in your
work?
>> What do other people do that you think you’d have the capabilities
to do and would like to do?
Being honest about your Capabilities, or lack thereof
>> What are your capabilities?
>> What are you good at?
>> What are your lesser capabilities (Emerging)?
>> What are your most useful capabilities (solid)?
>> What can you mentor others in (Comprehensive)?
