Introduction

If you are reading this booklet you have decided to participate in blue
skies. This involves a significant commitment of time and energy but,
we believe, provides a unique opportunity for ‘real’ learning.

Evaluations of the first five blue skies programmes were
unambiguous, the programme worked best for Beginning Principals
when they took their responsibility as a participant as an opportunity
to learn from and with their colleagues, and to role-model the value

all good principals place on professional networking and
advancement.
