The Department has been working with different foundations and centres on various projects for the social good. Particularly, we have enjoyed close collaboration with the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education (CSENIE).
The project is a two-year service-learning programme dedicated to enriching pre-service students’ knowledge and strategies for supporting special education needs (SEN) students. The project is to be implemented in three phases, and is being organised by CSENIE and integrated into the teacher training programmes of the Department of Special Education and Counselling. The project is aided by resources provided for special education by the Education Bureau and support from various special schools and non-governmental organisations. The project runs as a mode of service learning to enhance prospective teachers’ confidence and competence in teaching students with special educational needs. It will help prepare them to be competent teachers with knowledge of special education needs.
