Granting of Self-Accrediting Status : a milestone for HKIEd

Findings of the UGC Panel for Institutional Review

Remarks Reference Paragraph
Commitment to quality assurance
The Panel observed that HKIEd is strongly led in respect of quality. This can be seen in terms of academic structure, the level of administrative support, the upgrading of staff academic profiles, and student graduation requirements.
7
Interviews with students give the distinct impression that the commitment to quality has permeated throughout the Institute. For example, students take pride that the Institute has inculcated in them a strong professional commitment.
8
The system which the Institute has put in place and proposes to refine and implement when it is granted self-accrediting status is highly collaborative. It brings together stakeholders (administrators, faculty, students, school teachers and community leaders) in the course process, from planning to delivery.
9
Effective and efficient systems and processes of quality assurance
HKIEd has in place a number of early warning procedures as part of its monitoring of programme progress and quality. These include many and extensive mechanisms for collecting information and feedback, together with a highly proactive stance among senior academic and administrative staff.
10
The Institute shows seriousness in the collection of feedback from students and school principals who have employed HKIEd graduates...... Survey results to date show that the graduates possess the attributes that principals consider important......The quality assurance of HKIEd also avails itself of data collected by other parties and it factors the results realistically into its decision-making.
