Dear Staff & Students,

We are pleased to inform you that the long-awaited KMB special express route no. 73F between Tsuen Wan and Tai Po Campus will be launched from 18 December 2023 (Monday).  The initial service consists of a morning inbound trip departing from Tsuen Wan Nina Tower Bus Terminus at 7:20 am on each working day, estimated to arrive at Tai Po Campus around 8:15 am to 8:20 am, and an evening outbound trip departing from the Tai Po Campus at 5:40 pm.  The fare will be $16.2 per trip (with sectional fares applicable) and passengers can enjoy KMB Bus-Bus Interchange Scheme discount and KMB fare saver discount on its ride.  For details, please see the attached 73F leaflet.

Launch of this direct service helps to enhance the University’s connectivity with West Kowloon as well as the Northwest New Territories such as Tsing Yi, Tuen Mun, Tin Shui Wai, Yuen Long, etc. whereby passengers can transit to/from this route from/to KMB routes 263 or 269D at the Shing Mun Tunnels Bus Interchange.  As seen in another successful case of KMB 74F service, KMB is likely to launch additional morning/evening trips of this route later shall the responses of this route be keen.     

The boarding point of 73F for the outbound trip will be temporarily located at the back of the existing GMB 26/26A minibus bay for the time being but we understand Transport Development, in response to our previous request, is proactively considering exchanging the existing KMB bus and GMB minibus parking bays to accommodate the increasing no. of KMB passengers and we are awaiting their update.  As a result of this arrangement, the existing Student Bus boarding location will be relocated to the lay-by between Blocks B2 and B3 also with effect from 18 December 2023.  For the respective boarding locations, please see attachments.   

While we appeal to your support of this route to make it a success, we also anticipate the patronage of the current Staff Bus Route 3 and the Student Bus will likely drop with their respective financial sustainability greatly affected.  We will assess the effects after 18 December 2023 and make the corresponding announcement on the future arrangement of these routes in due course.
