Q
Who should I contact for advice on specific health and safety issues?
A

Health and Safety issues can be directed to the Estates Office. Your particular concern will then be forwarded to the Health, Safety, Environment and Hygiene Section for resolution. NEVER attempt to fix any hazardous condition unless it is safe to do so.

Q
How do I report an accident?
A

If you have an accident or observe one, you should contact the Security Control Centre at 2948-8000 or ext. 8000 for assistance immediately. You should briefly tell the answering personnel about the nature of the accident, location, number of persons injured if any, and also your personal information. Alternatively, you may notify the security guard nearby the scene.

You or someone on your behalf should record the details of the accident as the information is useful in revealing the cause of the accident and preventing its recurrence.

Q
Who should I contact if I am concerned about the indoor air quality in my workplace?
A

Making minor adjustments to the air conditioning system can sometimes resolve the indoor air problems, such as stuffy air, disagreeable odour, uncomfortable temperature and humidity. You may contact the Estates Office at extension 6269 and our building services team will promptly conduct inspection to the relevant ventilation system and carry out adjustment or repair where necessary. In some cases, an indoor air quality survey will be conducted.

Q
What should I do if I am uncomfortable while at my workstation?
A

There are a variety of ergonomic adjustments that can be made to address the problem, ranging from furniture to equipment at your workstation including display screen unit (computer monitor), keyboard drawer or chair. Rearrangement of your workstation set-up to accommodate your job would be helpful in most of the time. You may contact the safety coordinator of your department regarding a risk assessment to your workstation. You may also contact the Health, Safety, Environment and Hygiene Section for advice. Please also refer to HSE Tips - Display Screen Equipment (DSE) for more information regarding working with DSE
