The secret sauce of grant writing

2017-09-13

On 13 September 2017, Professor Thomas Bradbury from UCLA hosted a grant writing workshop for colleagues from the Department of Early Childhood Education (ECE). The workshop was organized by the Research and Development Committee of ECE.

Professor Bradbury highlighted the importance of keeping trying: Although he secured multiple grants from the most prestigious funding agencies in the United States, he also got many proposals rejected! “Maybe the trick is to keep yourself in the game,” he said.

Professor Bradbury provided other writing tips as well, including to write a grant with a critical but collegial collaborator, to begin the proposal by describing a big, costly social problem, and to compare the utility of multiple theories instead of just testing one.

ECE has been dedicated to linking our colleagues to top-notched researchers from all over the world.
