Strengthening the UNEVOC Network: The Role of Peer Learning, Experience Sharing, and Partnership Building

Collaborative Project Meeting Among Chinese UNEVOC Centres

On September 29-30, the Collaborative Project Meeting, hosted by The Education University of Hong Kong, brought together representatives from UNEVOC Centres in China, providing a forum to discuss current developments, explore new partnerships, and explore avenues for collaboration. The meeting builds on previous online discussions led by the UNESCO Regional Office for East Asia (UNESCO Beijing), where Centres identified key areas for cooperation, such as greening and digitalisation in TVET.

The primary objective of the Meeting was to discuss and develop a potential project or a series of possible collaborative activities among the UNEVOC Centres in China. This initiative followed two online meetings organised by the UNESCO Beijing office, during which Centres shared their interests, ongoing projects, and explored potential synergies. The main theme for possible collaboration identified was greening and AI. Therefore, this meeting was focused on shaping the future of collaboration among UNEVOC Centres in China for the next year. The achieved outcomes should benefit each participating institution, the country and the global community as the Meeting offered opportunities to advance our shared commitment to excellence in technical and vocational education.

The event was hosted by the UNEVOC Centre (Hong Kong), with Professor John Chi-Kin Lee serving as the new Director, Dr Kevin Yung as the Centre Coordinator and Dr Margarita Pavlova as the facilitator for coordination of the event. The meeting’s format emphasised both presentations from individual UNEVOC Centres and collaborative working sessions, providing a balance between showcasing institutional strengths and engaging in joint problem-solving activities.

Participating UNEVOC Centers include:

  • The Education University of Hong Kong
  • Shaanxi Polytechnic University
  • Zhejiang Technical Institute of Economics
  • Shenzhen Polytechnic University
  • Centre for Vocational Education Development (CVED), Ministry of Education
