The Awardee of the President’s Commendation in Innovation, Science and Technology in 2021/22

"Machinery" is an important thread that links up different stages of my life. Machinery has been my friend since I was a child and I always look forward to doing something meaningful in the field when I grow up.

I have always been passionate about extra-curricular activities and competitions, and I have gained theoretical knowledge and practical experience in provincial mathematics competitions and municipal innovation competitions. As a drone enthusiast, I designed one that could effectively reduce the cost of crashing after experiencing an aerial photography accident. I successfully applied for a patent of a utility model after practical test.

In 2021, I participated in the 7th China International College Students’ “Internet+” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition. As the marketing leader, I worked with my peers to complete a prototype of an artificial intelligence system to determine the health of animals based on environmental sounds. We also set up a start-up company to implement the results of the competition.

What EdUHK has given me is not only recognition, but also a door to a diverse world where I have had the opportunity to interact with people across disciplines and push the boundaries of creativity. I hope that my experience will inspire more students to contribute to their alma mater and the community.

The Education University of Hong Kong considers it vital to encourage students’ active engagement in co-curricular activities so as to build value systems and personalities, broaden horizons and absorb knowledge from alternative and non-traditional sources.  The President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS) was introduced in 2010/11 as a University-level recognition of students’ non-academic achievements.
