The Awardee of the President’s Commendation in Sports in 2021/22

Michael Jordan once said, “Never say never because limits, like fears, are often just illusions".

Having been an athlete for more than ten years, the most important thing I have learnt from sports is that our potential is unlimited. Indeed, I have encountered numerous failures and obstacles in my sports career. However, I have still made my way out.

In the past few years, I had achieved great results in local competitions, and started to blend into the international ones. Admittedly, it is extremely challenging to compete with international players. ‘Fail’ has been a word that come into my badminton career for a long time. While the notion of ‘being determined’ has taken root in my mind since I first got in touch with badminton, I go beyond my limit and strive for the best. It then brings me to the latest world championship. My partner and I had a game with the two-time world champion. I realised I had nothing to lose and no one thought I stood a chance to win at that time. I just told myself to do my best, and ended up with the astonishing result – we won.

I would like to take this precious opportunity to express my gratitude to EdUHK for providing the unlimited support and motivation that enable me to become an all-round person and giving me the chance to integrate into university life. Enlightened by the passion and spirit of EdUHK, I really hope that my sportsmanship will influence others in the future.

The Education University of Hong Kong considers it vital to encourage students’ active engagement in co-curricular activities so as to build value systems and personalities, broaden horizons and absorb knowledge from alternative and non-traditional sources.  The President’s Commendation Scheme (PCS) was introduced in 2010/11 as a University-level recognition of students’ non-academic achievements.
