On 10 June 2026, The Education University of Hong Kong hosted an online Community of Practice (CoP) Workshop for The Hong Kong Jockey Club Financial Education Programme, bringing together 31 teachers.
The session featured Mr. Simon Lee, a lecturer and financial education specialist with extensive expertise in accounting, investment, and business education. Mr. Lee delivered a presentation entitled "Understanding Inflation, Investment Returns, and Salary Growth through the Rule of 72." Through practical examples and relatable everyday scenarios, he demonstrated how the Rule of 72 can serve as an accessible tool for understanding the long-term effects of inflation, investment growth, and salary progression.
Participants gained practical insights into personal financial planning and the value of sustained financial management. The CoP workshop contributed to ongoing professional development efforts under the Programme, reinforcing teachers’ capacity to integrate financial literacy concepts into their teaching practice. |
