The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) hosted the “Hong Kong Jockey Club Financial Education Programme” Teacher Professional Development Workshop – Pedagogical Content Knowledge for the 2nd cohort of teachers on 23, 27 and 28 August 2025. The three-day training engaged 172 teachers from 38 primary schools, aiming to enhance financial knowledge, improve teaching capacity, and foster professional collaboration.
On the first day, Professor Christina Yu and Dr. Eric Law delivered lectures covering key areas of personal finance, including motivation and behaviour, money and banking, income and taxation, savings and investment, credit, and risk management. The following two days focused on collaborative lesson preparation and classroom demonstrations. Teachers Mr Yu Chung Kuen, Mr Cheung Chun Mo, Mr Cheng Kin Ho, Mr Lee Yat Fung and Miss Hui Chung Man from five different schools shared their teaching experiences related to curriculum implementation.
The workshop enhanced the financial knowledge and teaching skills of participating teachers, enabling them to effectively deliver financial education in schools. Additionally, it fostered professional networks to support the ongoing development of financial literacy in primary education.
