From 6 to 10 June 2025, Prof. Huei-Tse Hou, Distinguished Professor at the Graduate Institute of Applied Science and Technology, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), visited The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) under the Tin Ka Ping Foundation Visiting Scholar Exchange Programme. The visit was coordinated by Dr. Li Yuet Man, Associate Head of the Resource Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies and Experiential Learning (RCISEL).

During his visit, Prof. Hou led two workshops on gamified instructional design, one for pre-service teachers and another for in-service primary and secondary school teachers. He introduced practical strategies including learning-based board games, parent-child gamification, micro-flipped learning models, as well as the use of generative AI tools in classroom design. His sessions explored how gamification can support humanities and values education, particularly within the context of Hong Kong’s curriculum.

In addition to the workshops, Prof. Hou held academic discussions with representatives from RCISEL and the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies. He provided expert input on the development of a forthcoming double degree programme in Sociology and Community Studies and Primary Humanities Education.

Participants highly appreciated the relevance and creativity of Prof. Hou’s sessions. The visit strengthened cross-regional academic collaboration and encouraged the integration of emerging technologies in education.
