On May 13, 2025, The Education University of Hong Kong (EdUHK) hosted a teacher training workshop for the Hong Kong Jockey Club Financial Education Programme, themed "Pedagogical Content Knowledge", attracting 26 teachers from 12 primary schools and 14 students from EdUHK.
The workshop featured two special lectures. The first lecture was delivered by Ms. Dora Li, General Manager of the Investor and Financial Education Council, who shared her personal career story and introduced various digital resources and interactive learning tools. She encouraged teachers to guide students in developing sound financial concepts through extended learning activities. The second lecture, titled "Essential Tips for Property Purchase in Hong Kong," was presented by Dr. Law Eric and Prof. Yu Christina from EdUHK. It provided an in-depth analysis of the local real estate market, mortgage arrangements, and considerations for property purchase, offering practical and insightful content.
The event was well-received and enriched with diverse content, further enhancing the understanding of financial education topics among teachers and future educators, and promoting the implementation of financial literacy education in schools, both inside and outside the classroom. Prof Christina Yu, the Principal Investigator of the HKJCFEP, presented the teachers with a “Teacher Professional Development Workshop” certificate to recognise their participation and dedication to improving financial literacy education.
