Welcome

The Summer School for PE Teachers is an annual professional development programme initiated by the Education Bureau. It aims to share with PE teachers innovative and relevant curricular practices, pedagogy and assessment. Following the successful organization programme in 2006 (with the theme Assessment Literacy: Theories and Practices), 2007 (Catering Learner Diversity) and 2008 (Nurturing Creativity and Critical Thinking Skills through Physical Education), the Department of Health and Physical Education, the Hong Kong Institute of Education is going to organize the Summer School for PE Teachers 2009 with the theme, "Social cultural aspects of physical education". Respective programmes include:

1.

A half-day Conference titled "Social cultural aspects of physical education" and "China's sporting culture" scheduled on Monday afternoon, 22 June 2009 at Tsuen Wan Town Hall;

2.

A full-day School Based Experience Sharing Seminar scheduled on Saturday, 4 July 2009 at the Tai Po Main Campus, the Hong Kong Institute of Education; and

3.

33 workshops (consist of two-day and four-day sessions) will be organized at the end of July 2009.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I cordially invite PE colleagues to attend the conference, present papers in the seminar and enroll in workshops. You are most welcome to visit our website for continuous updates of the events and feed us back with recommendations on the programmes that may suit you most.

Looking forward to seeing you.
