Professor LO Sing Kai

Professor Lo’s research focuses on social and personal wellbeing, disabilities and rehabilitation. He also conducts methodology research in the social and health sciences.

Since joining the Institute in 2009, Professor Lo has maintained a high level of research productivity despite his heavy administrative workload as Associate Vice President (Graduate Studies).  As a research leader, Professor Lo has been active in providing mentorship support to early and mid career academies as well as postgraduate students, especially in terms of producing quality journal articles and securing competitive external research grants. For example, he has played a leadership and mentoring role in securing three General Research Fund projects, two Health Care and Promotion Fund projects, and two international projects funded by the Australian Research Council and the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council.

Within these three and a half years, he has published nearly 40 journal articles, at an average rate of one publication per month. Most of his manuscripts have been published in highly ranked journals, which in turn have won him an excellent reputation in the eld. He was recently invited to serve as a project consultant for the World Health Organization.

As Dean of the Graduate School, Professor Lo also supports postgraduate students in writing scientic papers based on their research projects, and works to promote a research culture within the postgraduate-student population.

In summary, Professor Lo has exhibited strong research leadership over the past three and a half years, and has been very successful in enhancing the link between research and research training at the Institute.
