Outstanding Performance in Administrative Services – Individual Award

Mr WONG Hang Kuen
Computer Operator, Office of Information Technology and Services

As a Computer Operator with the Office of Information Technology and Services, Mr Wong’s primary job is to provide on-site IT support to staff members.

Since joining the Institute in 2000, Mr Wong’s performance has been consistently above the expected level of a frontline staff member. He is always cordial, gracious and responsive. He manages his work priorities well, completes tasks on time, and often walks extra the mile to identify potential problems proactively, and in turn proposes solutions to his supervisor.

His initiatives help prevent mass numbers of critical incidents, and safeguard efficiency and productivity for the Institute, and colleagues who are increasingly reliant on computers in their daily work.

Mr Wong is adept at applying his IT knowledge to his work and is capable of explaining difficult technical concepts, with great patience, to users in simple terms. Widely known as “Kuen Goh” on campus, Mr Wong’s pleasant personality and attitude towards work has generated positive and trustful relationships within both his office and the Institute. He is one of the “icons” of the support team, and is probably the “top-of-the-mind” contact person for solving IT problems.

Mr Wong is a believer in self improvement and is keen on keeping himself abreast of the state of the art in IT technology. Over the years, he has attended a great number of training programmes, workshops and courses.
