Mr CHENG Ka Wing Kelvin
Assistant Computer Officer, Office of Information Technology and Services

Mr Cheng is responsible for server administration and providing IT support to senior staff members, as well as acting as “second-line” support and mentor to team members for complicated IT problems. He is also responsible for the compilation of user guides and the management of the software license inventory.

Throughout his service to the Office, Mr Cheng has demonstrated considerable initiative and creativity. For instance, his application of the “Reborn” software package has enhanced the efficiency of the reinstatement process for returned notebooks. He is also dedicated to self-improvement, as evidenced by his continuous pursuit of professional qualifications.

Mr Cheng is eager to share his knowledge and skills with colleagues. He is a frequent contributor to the ITS blog and writes for the ITS newsletter. His pleasant and positive personality also makes him popular among colleagues and IT users. Whenever he is approached for help, he always does so to the best of his ability with a warm smile.

In the recent joint PC tender exercise among UGC funded institutions, Mr Cheng participated on behalf of the Institute. He more than ably demonstrated his capability and expertise in PC technologies. Thanks to his efforts, the Institute has greatly benefited from the reduced administrative overhead in the tendering process.
