Dr. Zhang Ying Bob

Research Assistant Professor

Profile

Dr. Zhang obtained his PhD in Mathematics Education from the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong (HKU). He earned his Master of Science in Statistics and Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics from Central China Normal University (CCNU). His research interests focus on technology (AI)-enhanced mathematics education, teacher education, and the learning sciences.

Dr. Zhang proposed the Dynamic-Visualization-supported-Dialogic-Teaching (DVsDT) approach for the systematic professional development of mathematics teachers, aiming to empower teacher–student dialogic interactions in technology-rich mathematics classrooms. He places a strong emphasis on empirical research grounded in teachers’ everyday instructional practices. He has published multiple papers in leading academic journals. Dr. Zhang is actively engaged in mathematics education community across the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area, mainland China, and the international community. He is committed to advancing a “3S” vision for mathematics teacher education—Sustainability, Scalability, and Spreadability—to support long-term, large-scale, and transferable educational impact.
