From the global epicentre of invention at Palexpo, Switzerland, EdUHK has delivered a truly outstanding performance at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (11–15 March 2026), securing a remarkable total of 11 medals, including two prestigious International Special Awards, a Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury, three Gold Medals, two Silver Medals, and three Bronze Medals.

Led by Prof Ken Yung, our delegation comprising principal investigators from MIT, SES, SSPS and KTSO, together with two EASE Fund teams spearheaded by a current MIT undergraduate and a current PGDE student, presented pioneering work across healthcare technologies, AI, GreenTech and microwave engineering.

Congratulations for Awards at 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva

Prof Song Yanjie’s project “EmoCare – An AI-powered application to foster emotional well-being” won the Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury

EmoCare, the first AI-powered application grounded in the PERMA model to foster students’ emotional well-being was awarded the “Gold Medal with Congratulations of the Jury” at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva (11–15 March 2026), Switzerland. EmoCare was developed by Prof. SONG Yanjie and her team and was selected for the EdUHK–HKSTP Co Ideation Programme in October 2025. Prof. Song extends her sincere appreciation to the Co-PIs, Prof. LEE Chi Kin John and Prof. YEUNG Siu Sze Susanna, as well as to her research team, particularly her PhD student Miss FU Jiachen and Project Officer Mr. WU Kaiyi, and acknowledges the invaluable support of the KT Office, MIT and FLASS.

Dr Fu Hong’s project won project “RoMetric: Intelligent Hand Function ROM Assessment System” won the Gold Medal

RoMetric, an intelligent hand function range-of-motion (ROM) assessment system, has been awarded the Gold Medal at the 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva.

Powered by computer vision and deep learning, RoMetric automatically measures finger joint ROM with high precision. By integrating anatomical constraints and advanced hand-pose estimation, the system reduces assessment time from 50 minutes to just 5 minutes while maintaining accuracy and repeatability. This enables clinicians to track rehabilitation progress on a daily basis and make data-driven, personalized treatment decisions. Non-invasive and scalable, RoMetric streamlines hand function evaluation and supports better long-term recovery outcomes.

RoMetric was developed by a multidisciplinary team: Dr. Hong Fu, Prof. Chetwyn Che Hin Chan, Ms. Beibei Hou, Prof. Yanwen Xu, Prof. Jun Wang, Mrs. Ying Wang, Mr. Xiao Li, Ms. Minyu Qiu, Mr. Ziyu He, Ms. Yanyue Wang, and Ms. Lin Han.

Our BSc(AI&EdTech) Student Ms Chung Ki Ki’s project “AI-Driven Microwave Sensor for Non-invasive Coolant Level Monitoring and Leak Detection” won the Bronze Medal

We are proud to announce that our BSc(AI&EdTech) student, Ms. Chung Ki Ki, has won the Bronze Medal for her project, "AI-Driven Microwave Sensor for Non-invasive Coolant Level Monitoring and Leak Detection." Sharing her thoughts on this remarkable achievement, Ki Ki said: “I would like to thank the MIT department for supporting my participation in the 51st Geneva International Exhibition. This opportunity allowed me to present my project on using machine learning for coolant level sensing to innovators and audiences from around the world. It was also inspiring to explore innovative ideas across various fields and engage in meaningful discussions, which deepened my understanding of innovation and inspired me to use diverse methods to solve problems.

The BSc(AI&EdTech) programme has strengthened my creative thinking and professional approach to technology. Additionally, industry talks and visits have provided valuable insights into the real-world technology sector. In the future, I will continue exploring the possibilities of innovative technology."
