Date:2026-01-26
Time:18:30-20:00
Speaker:Mr Leslie Hau

With the support of Dr Ng Tsz Kit Davy, the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology was honoured to invite Mr Leslie Hau to deliever a guest lecture during the course INT6113 Digital Literacy for Future Citizenship.

With the rapid rise of generative AI, students’ writing and speaking habits are changing fast. The key question is no longer just how to “mark faster”, but how to use AI to build a school-wide language learning ecosystem where students practise more, reflect instantly, and take ownership of their progress – while teachers gain deeper, data-driven insights without taking on extra marking.

In the talk, Mr. Hau, Co-founder of Essai Education, shared insights with over 140 students and teachers on the integration of generative AI to enhance language learning. He highlighted how his team developed a platform that supports instructional design and assessment for both English and Chinese. He displayed how the platform consolidated practice data, identified error patterns, and tracked student progress through educational dashboards and reports. This data-driven approach enables teachers to set personalized learning targets, plan follow-up tasks, and engage in whole-school language planning.
