Event Highlights: Empowering the Next Generation: Insight of AI Development with HUAWEI
On 13 October 2025, our department invited HUAWEI to host a seminar titled "Empowering the Next Generation: Insight of AI Development with Huawei" at the Tai Po campus of the Education University of Hong Kong. The event attracted many staff and students who actively participated. The seminar explored the evolution of AI literacy, from initial awareness to strategic application, and provided an overview of the complete AI technology stack.
Dr So Chi Fuk Henry, a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology, shared his insights on the development of artificial intelligence, emphasizing the critical role of education in cultivating the next generation of AI talent. Dr So pointed out that as technology continues to advance, students need to possess a higher level of AI literacy to effectively navigate the rapidly changing landscape of the future workplace.
During the event, HUAWEI staff, Ms. Minny Cheng and Ms. Shannon Pang(in Chinese you may mention Miss Cheng and Miss Pang is fine), guided students on how to view artificial intelligence as an easily manageable tool, while exploring pathways for skill development, including opportunities and learning resources provided by the HUAWEI ICT Competition. This initiative offered valuable resources to students, helping them more effectively apply AI technologies in their future careers.
