To help students build up supportive professional network in different fields.

To provide mentors an understanding of the values, lifestyles and trends of the new generation.

How does the EdUHK Mentorship Scheme work?

Target Students

The Scheme is open to all full-time undergraduate students and higher diploma in early childhood education in their second year of study or above.

Duration and Format

Mentors from the education field are matched with our students to cultivate a ‘life influences life’ culture for professional growth. A group of one to three mentees will be assigned to each mentor usually. The mentoring period is 8 months (November to June), further information could be found in the “Programme Schedule”. A minimum of three face-to-face meetings is expected, supplemented by other modes of communication, over the 8 months’ period. The mentoring activities can take the following forms:

• Email and telephone communication

• Lunch/tea/dinner gathering

• Cultural/ sports activities, e.g. jogging

• Participation in events organised by EdUHK

• Campus/ workplace visits

• Inviting mentees to relevant sector-based events

• Introducing mentees to colleagues in and outside of mentors’ organisations. Additional activities may include school events (sports day, swimming gala, school picnic) so that mentees will be able to visit the schools and have meetings on site.

Application and Training

All students, disregard of their study programmes, are eligible to apply to the EdUHK Mentorship Scheme. Students will be invited to attend a training session.

All mentees are required to sign the “EdUHK Mentorship Scheme Student Learning Contract” which shows their commitment to the scheme.
