Macbeth -- Shakespearean Drama in an Asian Context

It is impossible to overestimate the benefit to students of growing together as a cohesive group, and that happened very powerfully in this production. Some students, not originally from Hong Kong, found that their feelings about Hong Kong had been transformed. One exchange student from a remote part of the mainland said that she had always been shy about dealing with non-Chinese people, but that was gone forever now.

Macbeth was played by Daniel Tse Chi-hong — a Physical Education major, and Macbeth's best friend Banquo was played by Tom Hung Kin-kwan — a Business major. Support for the production came from the Faculty of Language, Arts and Science, based on a funding application from the Department of English. Financial support was also provided by the Centre for Language in Education.
