Concurrently, the Institute has also developed new degree programmes and curriculum and expanded our Master of Education programme. I'm confident that all these developments will contribute to the nurturing of future educators who are equipped with the necessary professional attributes to undertake the new requirements in the upcoming education reform.

To end my message, I am pleased to report the encouraging news about our donation achievement. As of 28 February 2006 - the deadline of the six-month Matching Grants Scheme, we have raised over $22 million, of which over $21.5 million will be doubled by the Government. This result is due largely to the support of some generous philanthropists and donors, as well as our highlydevoted staff members, alumni and students.

It is the increasing cohesiveness of the Institute community and its strong partnership with local schools - emerging over the past few years - which allows the HKIEd to move forward with confidence.
