On this note, I am proud to report that in the first-ever
independent survey of principals, that was commissioned by the Institute
and carried out by the City University of Hong Kong in October 2005,
we were given excellent feedback on our graduates. They were very positively
perceived and preferred by school principals. This encouraging outcome
mirrors the findings of the annual Graduate Employment Surveys we have
conducted since 1996. The popularity of our graduates and our effectiveness
in preparing effective educators is also evidenced by their very high
employment rates.
In recent months, the ongoing debates concerning the pressures on and
workload of educators have dominated the news headlines. As the major
teacher education provider in Hong Kong, what we can do to address this
complex issue, and how we can prepare educators to cope with the changing
demands, is a major task that we have to address.
