In line with its self-accrediting
status, the Institute is to phase in a new academic structure, starting
September 2005. This will enable the Institute to operate in a more
streamlined fashion. By reducing the layers of line management and reporting,
the new structure will help enhance efficiency and effectiveness in
programme planning and quality assurance, thus enabling the Institute
to promptly meet the needs of the school sectors and the wider community.
Most importantly, students will now enjoy "one-stop" services
at the Programme Offices. Key features of the new structure are as follows: |
|
¡» | 3 Vice Presidents to be reduced to 2, one for academic and the other for administrative matters. |
¡» | 2 Associate Vice Presidents, which are functional posts only, will be created to take charge of Learning Enhancement & Development and Curriculum & Quality Assurance. |
¡» | 2 Faculties will be created to replace the existing 4 Schools. They are the Faculty of Professional and Early Childhood Education and the Faculty of Languages, Arts and Sciences. |
¡» | A centralised Field Experience Office will be set up to oversee teaching practice for all students. |
¡» | The existing 12 academic departments will be re-grouped into 8 to foster integration and professional collegiality. |
