From her journey of seeking to be a professionally trained teacher five years ago, Wendy has come a long way in actually securing a job offer from Phoenix International School. "I feel so proud to have reached my goal of starting to teach as a qualified teacher this autumn." Getting thus far is a mission accomplished for Wendy. Like other novice teachers, she overcame her apprehension during the initial days of teaching in front of a class. Commenting on her performance in the 7-week field experience at Shatin Junior School, associate teacher Mrs Jeynes told us Wendy had shown a natural flair for teaching. "With her excellent progress, we have become teaching partners rather than mentor and student. Her enthusiasm in teaching has won her the affection of students. They treat Wendy as a professional teacher, just as they treat me." This view is echoed by Mrs Debra Gardiner, Deputy Principal of the School. "Wendy performs very well in class. She has all the attributes we look for in a good teacher. She has the passion and commitment to teach by exploring the best teaching method. She is well-prepared for teaching and settles in well with students as well as senior teachers. We have a new recruit, Amy Hughes, who is also a graduate of the HKIEd PGDE Programme, and she is equally well prepared for teaching in an international school such as ours."
