"I trust the saying 'Good advice will prevail'. Teachers should not give up any chance to help their pupils. |
The teaching profession has been plagued by
shrinking classes and teacher redundancies. Joy of Learning sought A Nong's
view about the problems.
"We have to take the rough with the smooth in life. As Liang Qichao, the scholar of the early twentieth century in China said, 'There will be little progress after a minor setback and great progress after a major setback.' We mature with adversity. I would advise teachers to seek help when you feel disturbed and to talk with colleagues and friends. My approach is to befriend my students. They treat me with straightforward simplicity and sincerity. The encouragement and comforting words I receive from them is my best medicine. Try to give them greater care and understand them; the joy that my little angels in class give me everyday is beyond my imagination." While enjoying his life immensely in retirement in Canada, A Nong is still active creatively. He continues to meet young people, listening to their stories and sharing with them his experiences of life. His passion for education will motivate A Nong to keep on writing for his readers.
