Mr Arthur Hinton is a far-sighted educator with a deep love for his students and a passion for teaching. He was appointed the first Vice-principal of Queen Elizabeth School in 1953, and in 1967 was appointed Principal of Northcote College of Education. Upon his retirement, he joined the CUHK School of Education as a Senior Lecturer. Back in the 1950s, his liberal vision in education was embodied in his friendly approach to students, and his focus on nurturing their responsibility and self-discipline rather than imposing rules and punishment. The fact that he remains to this day a beloved friend to hundreds of his former students attests to his success as an educator.
