Despite a decrease in the numbers of kindergartens and primary schools, 2004 early childhood and primary graduates continued to perform well, attaining an employment rate of 92% and 90% respectively.

Their counterparts in secondary education attained an even more encouraging employment rate of 94%. They included HKIEd's first cohort of graduates from the four-year full-time Bachelor of Education (Honours) (Secondary) programme.

"The popularity of our graduates among school principals attests to the quality and effectiveness of our programmes in equipping our graduates with the academic knowledge, teaching skills and working attitudes to cope with the challenges of teaching in the era of education reform," said Professor Morris.
