Project Objectives

We intend to study and explain whether and how

1.     the current education policies in Hong Kong support the development of participatory citizenship;

2.     the school policies and governance structures support the nurturing of participatory citizen;

3.     the key personnel and school leaders involved in school governance perceive citizenship, participatory school governance and their role in nurturing participatory citizens;

4.     the students understand citizenship and school civic missions;

5.     the students recognize the impact of participatory school governance on their development as participatory citizens; and

6.     the tentative framework for students’ participation in schools and citizenship development could be developed.
