Strategic Goal

At the EdUHK, we believe that genuine internationalisation should be grounded in cross-
cultural fertilisation and mutual learning rather than conformity and convergence to a singular
set of “universal” benchmarks, and that internationalisation should not imply the loss of the
local identity, but instead it should nurture a culture for appreciating diversity and plurality, and
valuing tolerance and respect.

In our commitment to internationalisation, EdUHK attaches special importance to our identity
with Asia and the role of Asian universities to bridge global and Asian scholarship, and between
change and continuity. We are also committed to promoting deep collaboration and dialogue
between Asia and other parts of the world through enhancing student mobility and fostering
academic and research collaboration. We aspire to reconnect to Asian scholarly traditions and
we strongly support regional cooperation, social progress, and human development.

Strategic Areas

Our strategies for internationalisation aim to further enhance the leadership of the EdUHK in
the regional and international community, fostering a more cross-cultural environment for
student learning and creating a more conducive environment for staff to engage in regional/
international collaborations. Specific strategies are adopted to forging strong regional and
global links in order to engage in deep academic and research cooperation with universities and
institutions in the region and other parts of the world. Concerted efforts will be put together to
enhance student regional / international learning experiences and facilitate staff members to
engage in regional and international cooperation.
