We are delighted to extend our warmest congratulations to Dr Percy Kwok on the publication of the special issue entitled “Demystifying the Western Imagination of the Miracle of East Asia Education: Transboundary Learning Culture as a New Discourse on Students’ Academic Success”, which is now featured in Volume 7 (Issue No. 1) of Beijing International Review of Education (BIRE).
This special issue argues for the adoption of transboundary frameworks to examine how learning cultures and schooling enhance a deeper understanding of East Asian educational practices. By decentering traditional Western and Orientalist discourses, the issue exposes new power dynamics, draws policy implications, and opens academic collaboration in postcolonial/post-Orientalist studies.
