A field visit to The Mills for BSc(EM) students to explore and learn about ESG

2024-03-15

As one of the pre-internship workshops and to enhance students’ learning in Environment, Social and Governance (ESG), a field visit to The Mills was arranged for the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Executive Management (BSC(EM)) students on 5 Mar 2024.

ESG was first introduced by the UN Global Compact in 2004, and is considered an important indicator for evaluating a corporation's business operations, as well as the basis for a corporation to gain the trust of its customers and investors.

The students were guided through a closer look at the textile wall, where paintings and weavings brought the present and past of The Mills to life.

Our students also visited some featured shops in The Mills. As a pet-friendly mall, there are many pet supply shops and many visitors hanging around the mall with their pets. Workshops using recycled old clothes as materials for making new clothes were also very interesting.

Ms. Crystal Lai from Nan Fung Group shared a presentation on the topic of “Sustainability and Shared Value Practices in Nan Fung”. Crystal explained how Nan Fung encourages sustainable development strategies by giving out rewards to the merchants that the students had just visited. Students learned how to integrate ESG into business operations in a positive atmosphere.

The workshop ended successfully. Thanks to Nan Fung Group for the generous support of the field visit and sharing session.
