Learning Celebration for Serving Vice-Principals: Sector-Wide Sharing and Leadership Insights from Non-Educational Attachments

2026-07-29

Dr Ho and his team held a Learning Celebration of the "Programme for Leadership Enhancement for Serving Vice-Principals" at the Education University of Hong Kong on June 20. Commissioned by the Education Bureau (EDB), the programme aims to broaden participants’ leadership perspectives. Through the programme, serving vice-principals are attached to a business or an NGO for 3–4 days, where they gain first-hand understanding of how leadership and decision-making work in non-educational settings.

The Learning Celebration was organised into two sessions. In the morning, participants who had visited different types of organisations were arranged into groups to exchange their observations, experiences, and key takeaways. This peer-sharing session helped them compare what they had learned across sectors and learn from one another’s approaches. In the afternoon, participants grouped by their visiting organisations delivered presentations on their learning outcomes. The sharing session was open to the sector. Besides inviting representatives from partner organisations to join the event in person and share their own reflections, the programme was also live streamed online. This arrangement allowed participants who attended remotely to follow the presentations, share their learning and planned applications with peers, and receive professional feedback.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr Ho provided a brief summary and extended encouragement to all participants, wishing them to become visionary and ethical leaders, ready to drive continuous school improvement.
