To support entry-year students in brainstorming innovative Final Year Project (FYP), the FYP Coordinator of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Executive Management Programme [BSC(EM)], Dr Leung Wing Tat, organised two meaningful on-site visits to non-profit organisations at the beginning of this semester. These field visits provided students with invaluable opportunities for experiential learning, real-world insights, and direct engagement with organisations that make a difference within our community.
Led by Dr Leung, our students visited the Breakthrough Youth Village, a pioneering organisation dedicated to empowering youth in Hong Kong, on 26 January 2026. During this visit, students gained firsthand insight into the strategies and initiatives implemented by this well-established NGO to support youth development in Hong Kong. Through the case of Breakthrough, they examined the opportunities and challenges faced by NGOs in Hong Kong. This allowed them to consider the complexities of NGO management and the importance of sustainable strategies in their proposed projects.
In the second visit on 3 February 2026, students toured the various school facilities at the Salesians of Don Bosco Ng Siu Mui Secondary School. They learned about the development and management of specially designed school facilities that cater to diverse students’ needs. This experience provided students with valuable perspectives on seeking external resources and supporting inclusive learning environments, which could be incorporated into their project proposals focused on administrative roles in fostering educational innovation in schools.
These on-site visits exemplified our commitment to bridging academic knowledge with practical experience. By observing the operations of non-profit organisations and engaging directly with practitioners, students were better equipped to devise impactful and feasible final-year projects that address real-world challenges.
