The Department of Education Policy and Leadership (EPL), EdUHK, is delighted to share that Professor Yuzhuo Cai has published a chapter titled “Institutional logics analysis of universities’ societal engagement amid paradigm shifts in higher education” in the newly released Routledge volume Universities, Knowledge and Places, edited by David Charles, Lisa Nieth, Lars Coenen and Ridvan Cinar. Professor Cai’s chapter offers a timely analysis of how universities navigate evolving expectations around societal engagement, and how competing institutional logics shape institutional strategies, values and practices. His work contributes to global conversations on how higher education institutions respond to societal transformation, sustainability imperatives and emerging forms of collaboration. This volume carries special significance as it is dedicated to the memory of Professor Paul Benneworth, a highly respected scholar whose contributions to university–region studies have shaped the field and inspired colleagues worldwide. The book honours his legacy and lasting impact on the academic community.
EPL congratulates Professor Cai on this meaningful contribution to an important international publication. Scholars and practitioners interested in higher education, regional development, innovation ecosystems and university–society relations will find valuable insights in this volume.
