We were delighted to welcome Mr Namsik Kim from Yonsei University, Seoul, as part of the #FEHDEdUHK Visiting Predoctoral Scholars Sponsorship Scheme (FVPSSS) from October to December 2025. During his time with us, Namsik actively advanced his research under the mentorship of Dr Ewan Wright (Associate Professor, Department of Education Policy and Leadership), participating in nine focused research meetings that helped sharpen his research and career plans. His visit led to the development of two exciting research papers: one examining cross-societal differences in career preparation and occupational expectations among secondary students, and another analysing the implementation of the International Baccalaureate in South Korean public schools. Namsik benefited from insightful discussions with EPL faculty, which further refined his research focus and informed his career preparation. He also connected with faculty members and fellow doctoral students interested in South Korea’s education system, paving the way for future collaborations in comparative education. A highlight of his visit was presenting at the seminar “What do we mean by Doing Research?”, where he shared valuable insights and engaged with our academic community. During his visit, Namsik collaborated with Dr Ewan Wright (EPL), developing two research papers on career preparation & IB implementation in South Korea for journal submission. Namsik shared: “This scheme was a milestone in my academic journey, bridging my research with global standards.
