In collaboration with the local education NGO Ednovators, Ms Yvette Leung brought her undergraduate students enrolled in the course PFS2013: Philosophical and Socio-cultural Issues in Education, to visit two innovative schools in Hong Kong: PHC Wing Kwong Junior School in Tai Po and Caritas Wu Cheng-Chung College in Tung Chung. At PHC Wing Kwong Junior School, students learned how the school has developed a multidisciplinary curriculum that embeds Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14, Life Below Water, into both learning activities and assessment. The other half of the class visited Caritas Wu Cheng-Chung College to explore how its “STEAM for 2050” project engages ethnic-minority students through inquiry-based learning and the design of solution prototypes. In both visits, our students documented their observations, interview findings and reflections. They will soon share their work featuring the schools and teachers, which Ednovators will publish to share these innovations and the stories of local changemaker to the wider community.
