
Students from the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Executive Management (BSc(EM)) programme embarked on an immersive two-day, one-night GBA trip to Shenzhen on 22-23 October 2025. The trip offered students a unique opportunity to gain first-hand insights into the dynamic culture and rapid development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA), deepening their understanding of its distinctive environment and exploring emerging opportunities.

On 22 October, the students visited Brain-Computer Interface (BrainCo 强脑科技), a pioneering technology company specializing in brain-computer interface solutions. BrainCo is renowned for its cutting-edge research and development in neurotechnology. The company’s core products include intelligent bionic hands, sleep aids, and wearable devices that leverage brainwave analysis to enhance human potential. With its commitment to innovation, BrainCo has become a leader in bridging neuroscience and artificial intelligence, contributing to advancements in healthcare, education, and rehabilitation.


After the students exploring BrainCo’s products such as the intelligent bionic hand and sleep aid devices, Mr. Shu, Director of BrainCo, shared the company’s inspiring journey of growth, highlighting the spirit of innovation that drives the team and the challenges encountered in bringing breakthrough technologies to market. He emphasized the importance of resilience and adaptability in the face of rapid technological changes and evolving consumer needs. Students were inspired by BrainCo’s ability to seize new opportunities in the digital health sector and appreciated the real-world insights into entrepreneurship, innovation management, and the critical role of research and development in sustaining competitive advantage.
In the evening, the group visited Shenzhen Sea World, a vibrant waterfront complex that has become a symbol of the city’s modern urban development and internationalization. Surrounded by innovative architecture, cultural venues, and bustling commercial activity, students witnessed first-hand the transformative power of the GBA’s economic integration and urban renewal.

On 23 October, students began their day with a visit to the Shenzhen Museum – History and Folk Culture Hall. Through rich exhibits and detailed displays, students explored the intertwined histories of Shenzhen and Hong Kong, gained a deeper appreciation for the region’s resilience, adaptability, and spirit of cooperation, which continue to drive development in the Greater Bay Area.

In the afternoon, the group arrived at the final stop of their GBA trip: LAiPIC (来画), an emerging leader in artificial intelligence and digital creative solutions. Students were fascinated by LAiPIC’s innovative AI products, including interactive talking photo frames and sophisticated digital humans that can engage in lifelike conversations.


Mr. Zhong, Director of LAiPIC, further shared the company’s vision and journey in harnessing AI for creative expression and business innovation. He discussed how LAiPIC leverages advanced algorithms and deep learning to develop products that enhance user engagement and redefine the boundaries of digital interaction. Students were inspired by LAiPIC’s commitment to pushing the frontiers of artificial intelligence, and learned valuable lessons about the importance of continuous innovation and embracing emerging technologies in today’s competitive marketplace.

The two-day GBA trip in Shenzhen provided BSc(EM) students with a comprehensive understanding of the region’s historical roots, cultural diversity, and cutting-edge technological advancements. Through company visits, expert talks, and cultural exploration, students reflected on similarities and differences between Shenzhen and Hong Kong in executive management practices, gaining perspectives on cross-border collaboration and adaptability. This tour strengthened their entrepreneurial mindset and ability to connect global trends with local needs.
