Strategic Areas

The foregoing objectives of the EdUHK Elder Academy are to be achieved in the following strategic areas:

1. Staff Development Programmes: Tutor and coordinator training programmes for EAs across Hong Kong.
2. Research and Development Projects: Research and development projects, supported by internal or external funding, in education for, and learning by, older learners.
3. Public Education Programmes: Programmes for raising awareness among the general public and the community on matters pertaining to elderly learning and education.
4. Top-up Programmes: Opportunities for older learners to enroll in the regular programmes offered by the University in collaboration with individuals, departments and administrative units.
5. Dedicated Programmes: Programmes developed specifically for older learners, with or without the opportunity for others to enroll.
6. Teacher Education Programmes: Infusing throughout the University’s teacher education and professional development programmes, opportunities for students to develop their understanding of elderly education and learning and to develop their capabilities in working with elderly learners.
7. Contributory Programmes: Opportunities for the elderly to contribute to the cultural richness of the University as an academic community.
