PART II   Conference Strands
 
The Department of Early Childhood Education at The Education University of Hong Kong will host the 12th Conference for Research in Early Childhood Education (CRECE 2026) on April 18, 2026. With the theme "Supporting Children with Special Educational Needs in Early Childhood Education: Practices and Innovations", the conference warmly invites early childhood education practitioners, researchers, and students to submit their abstracts.  Conference Strands are as follows:
 
1. Developmental Needs of Children with SEN
  • Cognitive and Language Development (e.g., language development, reading and writing development, executive function, cognitive neuroscience in inclusive early childhood education)
  • Social-Emotional Development (e.g., emotional expression and management, social skills, social-emotional learning)
  • Behavioral Development (e.g., behavioral management, positive behavior support)
  • Other Topics Related to Development
2. Prevention and Intervention Approaches
  • Early Intervention and Prevention
  • Curriculum Design and Teaching Strategies for Inclusive Early Childhood Education
  • Individual Education Plan (IEP) Design and Implementation

PART III   Types of Submission
 
There are three submission types for this conference: oral presentation, poster presentation, and symposium. Presenters may choose to deliver their presentation in Cantonese, Mandarin, or English.
 
Oral Presentation* Presenters will give an oral presentation of their research toconference participants.
Poster Presentation
Presenters will display their research findings on a poster and present them to conference participants.
Symposium
One organiser shall invite 3 to 4 presenters to deliver presentations on the same topic. Suggested combinations are: (1) 1 chair and 4 presenters; or (2) 1 chair, 3 presenters, and 1 discussant.

*For reasons such as research quality and schedule arrangements, the scientific committee may suggest converting an oral presentation to a poster presentation, unless the author(s) choose NOT to consider this conversion.

PART IV   Abstract Requirements
 
Oral or Poster Presentation
  1. The number of words for abstract should be no more than 400 characters or no more than 250 English words, and the number of keywords should be no more than 5.
  2. The format should follow the APA Publication Manual (7th Edition)
  3. The abstract should not include references or figures/tables.
Symposium
  1. Information about the symposium must be provided, including title, introduction, and keywords. The introduction should be no more than 400 Chinese words or 250 English words, and the number of keywords should be no more than 5.
  2. For each abstract, the number of Chinese abstracts should be no more than 400 characters or 250 English words, and keywords should be no more than 5.
  3. The format should follow the APA Publication Manual (7th Edition)
  4. Both the symposium introduction and the abstract of each presentation should not include references or figures/tables.
PART V   Submission Guidelines
  1. Please download the appropriate submission template from the conference website or from the submission registration form, fill in the submission template in accordance with the guidelines provided in it; and complete the submission registration form with the completed template uploaded.
  2. Any subsequent information regarding submissions will only be notified to the abstract submitter. The abstract submitter shall be responsible for relaying the relevant information to other authors.
  3. Each submitter may submit a maximum of two abstracts as a presenter.
  4. Abstracts for symposium shall be submitted collectively by the symposium organiser; presenters in each presentation should not submit their abstracts individually.
  5. When submitting your abstracts, please ensure that the presentation language selected in the submission registration form is consistent with the one selected in the template. If the presentation is in Cantonese or Mandarin, please fill in the submission template in Chinese; if the presentation is in English, please fill in the submission template in English.
  6. Please avoid duplicate submission of abstracts. If a submitter submits the same abstract multiple times, the Scientific Committee will take the last submission as the basis for final review.
