About the Keynote Speaker

Dr. Gwang-Jo Kim is Director, UNESCO Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education since 2009, as well as UNESCO Representative to Thailand, Lao PDR, Myanmar and Singapore. His undergraduate training is in Public Administration at Korea University, and received his Master’s degree and PhD in Education from Harvard University. From 1995 to 1997, Dr Kim has advised and assisted former President Yong Sam Kim in the fields of education and social policy, playing a key role in “531 Education Reform” on the restructuring of Korean education system. He was World Bank Headquarter’s Senior Education Specialist from 2001 to 2004, and later on appointed as Director-General of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MOEHRD) in Korea. He became Deputy-Minister of Education and Human Resources Development of the Republic of Korea in 2005 till 2008.
