Dear Colleagues and students,

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the seminar “Transforming Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET): A report from the 3rd World Congress on TVET, Shanghai, 14-16 May 2012” organized by the Centre for Lifelong Learning Research and Development (CLLRD), the International Education Research Group (IERG), and the Department of International Education and Lifelong Learning (IELL).

The main working document of the 3rd World Congress on TVET is "Transforming TVET: Building Skills for Work and Life".  It interrogates the state of TVET against:

1. Global developments and their implications for TVET;
2. Analytical lenses, policy areas, challenges, and advancing the frontiers of TVET; and
3. Partnerships for transforming TVET.

Professors Michel Carton, Kenneth King and Rupert Maclean will look critically at the impact and outcomes of the approximately 1000 participants debating these issues in Shanghai.  The seminar will also consider the implications for the future of TVET in Hong Kong.
