What is an English Café?
The aim of the Language Café is to have a dedicated space for students to English in a fun, safe, and comfortable environment. It is a social space for students to meet, talk and learn English together in an informal and sociable way. English café is run by student tutors of EdUHK.
Where to go?
There will be a variety of weekly topics that Student Tutors will work on:. For example:
Travelling
Film
Animals
Games
Sports
Fashion
Sports
Seasons
Hobbies
Notes:
- No booking is needed (but please check the schedule in the CLE webpage or the posters at The Arthur Sammy Language Learning Centre).
- Students can come individually, in pairs or small groups.
- Just drop in and tap your card before entering.
- Tips for joining the café:
- Introduce yourself, say who you are and why you have come
- The English Café has weekly themes which foster engaging discussions! To stay up to date for the coming themes, please refer to the emails being sent out by the CLE Notice as they will contain both the Student Tutors’ schedules as well as the weekly themes
- Make sure you are aware of any English Café rules or codes of conduct. Student Tutors will reiterate the guidelines at the start of sessions.
- Don’t worry about making mistakes in your language as different students have different levels of language proficiency.
- Don’t be afraid to have a go but it is also okay to just listen.
When and where to go?
Activities take place at the ASLLC (B3-G-05).
