C&I Leads High-Impact Methodological Workshop Series to Advance Digital Teaching and Learning

2026-07-24

The Department of Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) successfully organised a five-session hybrid methodological workshop series on RPG Educational Game Production and Spherical Video-based Virtual Reality (SVVR) Immersive Learning Design, coordinated by Dr. Yang Lan, Joy, associate professor and associate head (research). Designed to strengthen digital teaching, learning, assessment, and learning analytics capacities, the hybrid workshops brought together 124 participants, including researchers, teaching staff and students.

Led by Dr. Chien Shu-Yun (Taipei University of Business), the intensive hands-on workshops guided participants through educational game development, immersive learning design, feedback integration, AI-supported learning, and learning behaviour analytics. Across the five sessions, participants learned to design RPG-based learning tasks, develop SVVR learning environments, collect learning-process data, and apply these approaches to innovative teaching and research. Dr. Yang coordinated the entire workshop series and worked closely with colleagues to facilitate its successful delivery, reflecting C&I's commitment to promoting methodological innovation and digital transformation in education. The Department also extends its sincere thanks to the session of co-chairs, Dr. Cheung Ka Ching, Kason, Dr. Pei Leisi, and Mr. Xu Lu for their valuable support in facilitating the workshop series.

The Department extends its sincere appreciation to Dr. Chien Shu-Yun for generously sharing her expertise and Prof. Hwang Gwo-Jen for his support in designing the intensive training programme, and to Ting Ka Ping Foundation to support this visiting scholar scheme. Their contributions have strengthened C&I's capacity to advance innovative pedagogies and research methodologies while fostering interdisciplinary collaboration in digital teaching and learning at EdUHK and beyond.
