On May 9, 2026, Master of Arts in Leading Experiential Learning Activities and the Hong Kong Scout Association jointly hosted the “One Curriculum, Multiple Possibilities: Research and Practice of Experiential Learning” Symposium and the 2025/26 Student Graduation Project Exhibition. Held at the Hong Kong Scout Centennial Building, the event brought together a distinguished community of guests, including alumni, faculty members, and representatives from the Scout Association of Hong Kong.
The symposium opened with welcoming remarks from the programme team, including Dr. ZHAO Zhenzhou and previous Programme Leaders. Since its launch in 2021, MA(LELA) has grown from a local initiative to a programme with substantial regional influence, fostering a community of educators dedicated to transformative teaching. Although the programme will pause admissions starting in the 2026/27 academic year, the programme team described this transition as a continuation of its core mission rather than a conclusion. Graduates were urged to leverage experiential learning to drive innovation amidst evolving educational landscapes.
The symposium featured two keynote presentations that explored the diverse dimensions of experiential education. Principal CHENG Lai-kuen (MA(LELA) Programme Mentor and Alumna, shared her professional journey and insights on integrating experiential learning within school leadership. Professor Benjamin FUNG Chi-ho, Deputy Director of the Friends of Scouting (Children & Youth Services) at Scout Association of Hong Kong), discussed the synergy between non-formal education and academic theory in youth development.
Following these insightful speeches, the event moved into its interactive segments. In addition to the keynote speakers, the occasion was graced by several distinguished guests and faculty members who offered their support and expert commentary throughout the day. These included Dr. HO Sai-hau Simon, Assistant Chief Commissioner (Adults in Scouting), Scout Association of Hong Kong; Dr. KEUNG Pui-chi Chrysa, Representative of the Head of the Department of Education Policy and Leadership and Associate Programme Leader of the MA(LELA) programme; Dr. CHENG Wing-tung Michelle, Associate Programme Leader of the MA(LELA) programme; Dr. KONG Ho-man Raymond Programme Consultant of the MA(LELA) programme; alongside other course lecturers.
With their collective guidance, the event showcased student achievements through three interactive formats: Graduation Project Exhibition: Students presented detailed exhibition boards outlining their research and practical explorations into experiential learning.
The MA(LELA) programme has left an indelible mark on advancing experiential learning regionally and internationally. As the 2025/26 cohort graduates, they join an influential alumni network equipped to lead and innovate in their respective fields, ensuring that programme’s core values continue to influence the educational landscape for years to come.
